There were about 15 birders that unfortunately witnessed two Peregrines tag team and predated the Ross's Gull. It was rough to watch.

Sadly, minutes after this photo was taken the Ross's Gull lifted from the watery field just off the east side of highway 1. As the small gull started flying, shockingly, one then another Peregrine Falcon appeared out of nowhere (likely the south) and chased the gull across the highway. The frantic gull evaded 4 or 5 diving attempts by the falcons and desperately zig zagged and made what looked like loop de loops before one of the falcons nailed it. Then it was over - the falcon carried the pearlescent prey item westward towards the harbor.
