- Matthew Hunter
- w/Martha Sawyer. We went to Reedsport. It was warm and rained very hard all day. It was hard to observe any birds. We were at the dump before noon sometime (0930), where there were more gulls than I have ever seen before.
1 species (+1 other taxa) total
first winter. It was about the same size or smaller than Western Gull. Creamy colored overall, w/primaries slightly lighter, pinkish-orange bill with black sharply demarcated tip, dark eye.
Herring x Glaucous Gull (hybrid)
Looked like a 2nd-winter glaucous with chocolate-brown primaries and tail, also brownish secondaries. Eye yellow, bill pink w/sharp black tip. About the size of a western gull.
Are you submitting a complete checklist of the birds you were able to identify?
