44 to 69 degrees F, clear and sunny, calm. Lots of birds but nothing out of the ordinary (I missed the Lark Sparrow that is apparently still in the septic field north of the visitor's center per later reports). Also had 3 River Otters swimming on the bay off the pier near the parking lot early on (viewed also by Erica Ryder). Birded with Mary Catherine Miguez for the last half hour or so around the visitor center after running into her at the parking lot on my trip back north. I birded the visitor center area, the Bay Trail, and the East Dike to False Cape SP (last time before it closes for the Nov-Mar season) and back along the same route. Beautiful day.

Comments: Large, bulky sparrows, clean chested with tan cap and tan eye line. All 5 were first year birds. 3 observed together near the parking area foraging in grass. 2 separate individuals seen elsewhere along the East Dike; this is the highest count for WCSP I have seen so far in one outing in Virginia Beach. Photographed several. I still have yet to see an adult WCSP this year in Virginia Beach (only 1 has been logged overall to eBird I believe).
