I visited Cocos for three weeks in February 1987 to do research on the endemic Cocos Island goby (Sicydium cocoensis). The records of birds is taken from photographs taken during the visit.

  1. Number observed: 50

Comments: My photo of these is fairly poor but shows a large flock flying over the ridge between Bahia Wafer and Bahia Chatham. I recall that they lived on Isla Pajara.

  2. Number observed: 1

Comments: Landed on our boat when we were within sight of Cocos and stayed with us for a few hours before flying off.

  3. Number observed: 1
  4. Number observed: 1

Comments: No photo of this bird, however, it landed on our boat about half way between Puntarenas and Cocos Island and stayed with us until we sighted the island. It then flew away to the island. Not sure if that counts or not.

  5. Number observed: 1
