Comments:
Red Knot: Very similar in size to long-billed dowitchers but with a lighter build, flatter back, with a longer more-streamlined look. Bill much smaller, maybe one head-width''s (in profile), straight and tapering. Plain Gray above and across breast with white belly and undertail. Too far to make out any flank patterning, but structure was unmitakable.

Red Phalarope: Intermediate in size between red-necked and wilson''s phalrope (all 3 present). Much thicker bill, thickest at base and slightly tapering to a blunt point. Dark triangular mask patch extending back from eye. Otherwise clean white face, forehead,a nd underside. Upperparts also intermediate in color, compared to lighter wilson''s and darker red-necked, also more uniform and unpatterned than red-necked.
