Black Tern

Very distinctive bird in adult plumage. Completely black head and underparts with grayish wings. Smaller than Forster's which were nearby for comparison. Very buoyant flight as it coursed low over the water occasionally dipping to the surface.

Two cormorants that were noticeably smaller and longer tailed were on a concrete blind in pool 4. Both had brownish breasts indicative of young birds.
