Cameron Cox identified as a Pacific Loon Gavia pacifica (PALO)
"Distant and in poor light but structure was obvious. Small, parallel sided bill. Rounded head, elegant arched neck held up away from the body continually. Bill structure and size, elegant curved neck, and round head wrong for Common Loon. Never showed the typical slouched COLO posture. Bill held straight not upturned like RTLO or ARLO. Neck too arched and obvious chest bulging forward along the waterline unlike RTLO. ARLO similar structurally but typically shows an even more exaggerated arch to the neck, a larger head and significantly larger bill that is held above horizon. Strong back light made it difficult to see plumage but a bit of a pale nape was visible."
