About .2 miles down the trail through the mangroves, before the fork. Heard only, to the southwest. Gave the territorial call five times over 45 minute period. I was not quick enough to record it. Loud ringing wuh wuh weeweeweeweeweewee wuh wuh. Accelerating, getting louder, then trailing off. Wilder sounding than similar call of Flicker. Much longer, higher pitched, more ringing, than Red-bellied. Lived in the east all of my life, very familiar with this call. Bird was not close. Played the call a few times, but no immediate response, would call many minutes later. From the imagery, looks like the area is solid mangroves.
