Found by C. Rustay earlier in the day. Plump body with relatively small head and rounded back. White below. Buff edging on wing feathers. Bill dark brown, shorter than that of nearby yellowlegs. Distinctive U-shaped white marking on rump/tail. White wing-stripe. On far left in photo with flock of yellowlegs.

Flew in and landed on mud flat in front of us (myself and another birder present - Bill West). Long, slightly decurved, orange bill with yellow towards the tip. Black forehead and cap with long, shaggy crest. Pale gray above and white below. Wings long and pointed. Pale underside to primaries.
