Sailed over the group on stiff wings close to a Turkey Vulture pretty high up. About same wingspan. Body and underwings bright white. Wingtips dark. The bird never had to beat its wings. For the longest time I kept thinking raptor. Only when Frank suggested gull and specifically black-backed did this bird make sense. The bright bird on stiff wings against a bright sky fooled me.

Heard only. Wiry, thin (high pitched) whiny sparkle. Can't think of anything to confuse this with. Birds still reported in DE and NJ.
