Northern Shoveler

Thousands of ducks along the causeway. All that I looked at through the glass definitely had the shoveler bill. Got tired of looking and figured they all were shovelers. 3,000 may be a conservative estimate. There might have been closer to 5,000. I have never seen this kind of concentration along the causeway.

Pretty sure most were Wilson's, some were just too far out to positively identify. Never seen this many birds in the water off the causeway. Phalaropes were mixed in with the Shoevelers.
