Comments: Continuing rarity, personal new state bird. Difficult to find initially, on second pass around lake observed on one of the sandbar islands near the south shore, most of the twenty plus minute observation it was sleeping, brief periods it stood up then settled back to sleeping, when I was scoping something else it disappeared and was not relocated. Details: Juvenile. Large & chunky calidris sandpiper with thick at base, tapered, relatively short straight black bill, proportionately short yellowish-green legs, upper parts gray with whitish feather edgings, whitish underparts with light pale gray mottling on breast & gray barring on the flanks, pale indistinct supercilium separating gray cap from dark lores & less dark post ocular eye-line.

  12. Number observed: 2
  13. Number observed: 1

Comments: Continuing rarity, found early on my first pass around lake then quick lost track of it, later relocated near REKN where it was actively feeding in shallow water near sand island. Details: Juvenile. Medium sized calidris sandpiper (smaller the REKN, slightly larger than nearby Baird’s), gray upper parts with scattered black patches, black “shoulder”, underparts white with gray smudge on side of breast, black legs, bill black tapered & relatively short (equal to head).

  14. Number observed: 18
  15. Number observed: 23
  16. Number observed: 2
  17. Number observed: 1

Comments: Rarity, found late on my first pass around the lake on the east shore (just north of the sandbar jutting out). Detail: Juvenile. Small calidris sandpiper, short straight blunt black bill (no bulbous tip or drooping), upper parts gray-brown with paler gray feather edgings, gray-brown crown, distinct supercilium, grayish post ocular smudge, legs black.

  19. Number observed: 1

Comments: Rarity, found on northwest corner of main body of water (near fenced in utilities) within flock go NSHO and at least two LBDO, one of the LBDO and the SBDO flushed & after a 30-40 second flight landed & disappeared on one of the rock isalnds. Details: Brightly marked distinct from other dowitchers, buffy underparts & face, darker rusty-brown cap, dark tertials marked with pale rufous irregular barring, in flight (with direct comparison to LBDO) the SBDO appeared much whiter on the back, rump, tail, secondaries & inner primaries.
