Comments:
List entered Jan 2015 from an old notebook and additions to the description of the Gray-cheeked here from memory (Gaede). Both Richard and I recall this observation well, and we spent an adequate amount of time with the bird under satisfactory viewing conditions, and we carefully eliminated similar looking species (i.e. other Catharus thrushes). We also head the bird vocalizing (see description below).
Species
5 species (+1 other taxa) total

First found and identified by Richard Bunn. We were both able to approach this bird carefully within close range; it was seen well and was calling repeatedly--a relatively soft, whistled "seeyu." The bird was perched low in vegetation in shade but in good light and we studied the bird at length, eliminating other Catharus species. The face showed gray tones, including the lores, and it appeared overall brownish in color (head, wings, back and tail), lacking reddish coloration. There was no contrast between back and tail. Swainson's and Hermit thrushes eliminated by call notes.
