Considering the lateness of the year, I was surprised to see an adute feeding a still downy single baby, striped head and neck and pinkish bill. photos

Although an Am Bittern has been recently reported and a camper excitedly pointed out this immature BCNH to me as a bittern, I am dubious as to the presence of a Bittern at this location.
