dabbling duck sp.

One was either a dark-colored mallard or a mallard x American black duck hybrid. It looked significantly darker than the other mallards around, but it had white on the speculum. The other may have been an American black duck, a hybrid, or a mallard. I couldn't clearly see the speculum, but it appeared to be only dark purple with no white (black duck), but I'm not sure.
