A very enjoyable birding experience. After the rain finally stopped completely, I heard a very distant UPSA song - approx half mile away (but their voice really carries). I drove to a spot that was closer, and witnessed at least 3 birds in flight, 2 which were singing back and forth. Singing continued for over 30 minutes, despite it being the middle of the day (but perhaps because of the thunderstorm that had just passed). Birds were calling, and singing while doing display flights on fluttery wings and throwing their head up high. Twice birds flew directly overhead, but I never managed to see them on the ground despite frequent scanning and looking up the rows of corn.
