1
Ruddy Ground-Dove

This species had been reported from the area earlier in the year. I was first drawn to it by its call. I was able to study the bird through my 'scope for several minutes. An adult male ground-dove with a distinctly ruddy or reddish body, gray head, and blackish spots on the wings. It lacked the scaling on the head and breast that would be exhibited by Common Ground-Dove, and the wing spots were blackish and not brown as they would be on Common Ground-Dove. I'm very familiar with this species from trips to Central and South America.
