Swainson's Warbler

a
singing bird observed by C. Roy
Smith and others in Dunes State
Park on 13 May 1962 (Graber,
1962). Based on inadequate
documentation this record was
initially rejected by the Bird
Records Committee (Bruner,
1996). However, the subsequent
discovery of a detailed letter
(from Smith) in the Mumford files brought reconsideration and acceptance of this report
(Gorney, 2005). In the letter Smith indicated that the singing bird (¿loud ringing song¿), ¿ lit in a
bush in plain view about 30 feet away¿ It remained there for two or three minutes.¿
