A protected area, one of the few near Lázaro Cárdenas, known for its abundant alligators. Unfortunately, much of the area of interest is in private hands and off-limits.

    Comments: I had thought I was only seeing Royals, but on photos posted on a Mexican birding site, they pointed out the presence of a good number of Elegants as well. Actual numbers for both were probably higher -- there were large flocks of terns throughout the day.
