Larger than HERG or GLGU. Gray back, a bit darker than HERG. greater coverts and tertials worn, worn nearly white at base of feathers. Lightish brown otherwise. Wingtips brown centered with pale edging. Bill hefty but relatively little gonydeal angle. Pinkish to yellow bill with dark smudge near tip, but tip pale. Eye dark. In flight. Underwings white. Upper wings with some grayish brown on outermost two or so primaries. Tail pale grayish- brown with white rump
