very high count for so late

6

3
Mississippi Kite

all imms. at Bodie Island - in the 1990s, we had a good run of young MIKIs and Broad-wingeds out on the barrier islands, apparently wind-drifted birds - very similar to phenomenon seen on Virginia Eastern Shore at the time

1
Northern Harrier

really not at all unusual to see one here in mid-May

13
Broad-winged Hawk

all imms. at Bodie Island

1
Willow Flycatcher

singing bird observed perched and vocalizing in 12 different spots along the concrete walk that borders the southern edge of North Pond - considered a coastal rarity back then but not really that rare in mid-May in southeastern Virginia (but very scarce)

4
Saltmarsh Sparrow

Very late for this species to be here; appear to be blackish diversus subspecies, according to notes.
