Roosting on the Salt Flats - male, studied at close range with scopes - still only one I have seen on the refuge

all imms. at Bodie Island - in the 1990s, we had a good run of young MIKIs and Broad-wingeds out on the barrier islands, apparently wind-drifted birds - very similar to phenomenon seen on Virginia Eastern Shore at the time

singing bird observed perched and vocalizing in 12 different spots along the concrete walk that borders the southern edge of North Pond - considered a coastal rarity back then but not really that rare in mid-May in southeastern Virginia (but very scarce)

Very late for this species to be here; appear to be blackish diversus subspecies, according to notes.
