Snow Goose

Flock of >500 white geese took off, estimated at 5% Ross's; most left, about 180 came back and were carefully counted, matching estimated proportion above pretty closely

32
Ross's Goose

See comments under Snow Goose

21
Greater White-fronted Goose

counted together as bathed. Medium sized geese with pink bills, white rings on feathering at base, most with black speckling to varying degrees on belly

1
Snow x Cackling Goose (hybrid)

very dark brown bodied goose, considerably smaller than nearby Snow Geese, bigger than Ross's. Neck blackish, black extending onto crown. Face white: overall pattern like that of Blue morph Snow Goose, except body brown instead of gray, no long white edged tertials, and neck black. Head pattern not precise, but as a whole, pattern reminiscent of Blue Goose, as are many Snow/Ross's x white-cheeked Geese. Bill relatively stubby with grin patch. Dusky pink, typical of these crosses. Grin patch eliminates Ross's x Canada, size other pairings.
