1, Juvenal , present 26 September 1996; found by: Alan Wormington; documentation provided by: Alan Wormington. Published comments: Curry (1996) suggested that this and another Arctic Tern reported at this time were likely displaced by Hurricane Fran. The autumn occurrence of Arctic Tern on the Great Lakes is certainly not without precedent, and in addition to being carried overland by Fran (as other seabirds definitely were), another possibility is that the storm may have simply stalled southbound migrants of this species already heading overland from James Bay into the Great Lakes area. Either scenario seems possible. 6th (OBRC accepted) Ontario record for this species. 6th OBRC accepted record for southern Ontario for this species. Record accepted by OBRC (record number 1097?). Record published in 1996 OBRC annual report. Published location: Point Pelee National Park, Essex County*******************uploaded October 6, 2012 by Mike Burrell
