1984 notes read: At Ice Pond, first attracted by call-note, seemed drier than S. novaboracensis. Clearly white superciliary expanding behind eye; underparts white; throat unstreaked; bill longer and stouter than S. novaboracensis; legs bright pink. Do not think contrast between flank and remaining underparts is [always] a good character.
