  • October Big Day results– a new record and more than 6,000 species in a day!

    More than 18,000 eBirders from 164 countries and territories joined together on 19 October to go birding on the second October Big Day. The global count of 6,497 species broke last year’s total of 6,360 species, setting a new October Big Day record!

    Global Big Day 2018 set a new world record for birding, reporting 2/3rds of the world's birds in one day: more species on 5 May than any person has ever seen in an entire year. Colombia alone noted 15% of the world's avian diversity in 24 hours.

    eBird Mobile for Android took a big step forward this week: the ability to keep 'tracks' of where you eBird. Every time you start a checklist on eBird Android, you now have the option to keep a GPS track of where you walk for your traveling counts.

  • Change Species on your checklists

    Have you ever uploaded a photo or audio recording to an eBird checklist, only to realize after the fact that it's under the wrong species? Then you had to delete the photo from eBird, go back to your photo archive, and re-upload to the new species.
