Large, striking magpie with a restricted range in California. Beautiful black-and-white plumage with iridescent blue-green on wings and tail. Note bright yellow bill. Prefers open areas with scattered trees. Often found in pairs or small family groups. Feeds mainly on insects, but eats a variety of plants, seeds, and other invertebrates.
