A widespread, common, and fairly distinctive flycatcher found from easternmost Panama to southeast Brazil. Overall suffused with bright lemon-yellow, although more greenish-olive on the upperparts. Note bright yellow edges on wing feathers and fairly stout bill. The spot between the eyes and bill sometimes look tinged with orange. Taxonomically complex with significant variation in vocalizations across range. Found singly or in pairs in a variety of woodlands, forests, and second-growth. Listen for thin, high-pitched calls.
