Identification

POWERED BY MERLIN

A distinctive camaroptera of tangles in treefall gaps and forest edge. Grayish white below and yellow-green above with a yellowish face and vent. Often holds its tail slightly cocked, and appears relatively long-billed. This species has blue throat pouches on the sides of the neck that are obvious when the bird is calling but can be hidden or appear as dark whiskers most of the time. Often found by its odd, cawing “ohwa ohwa” calls.
