Identification

A small swallow usually seen flying low over rivers, marshes, and coastal areas or over adjacent open areas alone or in small groups. Glossy blue-green from the forehead to the back with darker flight feathers and tail and white underparts. Easily recognized in flight by its white rump and extensive white patches on the wings.
