Identification

POWERED BY MERLIN

A plump, short-tailed little bird. Male is distinctive: entirely glossy blue-black with striking white throat. Female is much more camouflaged: olive-green overall with notably grayish throat. Look for singles or pairs in forest or edges, often in the vicinity of a fruiting tree. Tends to perch in the mid-story, rarely in the canopy.
