Typical spinetail with a long spiky tail, a gray head, cinnamon wings and tail, a white throat, and tawny underparts. Note the conspicuous white lores. Inhabits the understory of gallery forest. The song is a sharp “keeeu, kit-kweet.” The Araguaia subspecies has bright cinnamon upperparts, whiter underparts, and a shorter song. The Plain-crowned Spinetail lacks the white lores.
