Identification
Brown antwren of rainforest understory and midstory. Males are grayish brown, with black speckling on the throat, and whitish or buffy wing bars; females are buffy brown with buffy wing bars. Lacks the rufous back of some similar antwrens, and is fairly long-tailed for an antwren. Does not always have a white eye, with a variable eye color that is often brown in some areas. A common member of understory mixed species flocks, where searches for insects in curled dead leaves.
