Identification

Chunky, rounded songbird with heavy, thick bill, found in southwestern Australia, as well as southeastern South Australia and western Victoria. Male has olive-yellow back, black head, white chin, bright yellow underparts, and black-tipped gray tail. Female plain gray above, and paler gray below, with buffy belly. Formerly considered a subspecies of Golden Whistler. Calls include a loud piercing whistle with a whip-like ending.
