Identification

POWERED BY MERLIN

Large, burly, well-named warbler with a thick, flesh-colored bill. Warm brown overall, with upperparts being considerably darker and richer in coloration. Large eye, round head, and heavy bill give this species a big-headed appearance, unlike the slender-billed and gently sloping profile of most Acrocephalus warblers. Also differs considerably in its choice of habitat: shrubby and bushy areas instead of extensive reedbeds.
