Identification

A small, brownish shorebird with a short, straight bill. Similar to Pectoral Sandpiper, but the white eyebrow is wider and longer, the crown is brighter chestnut, the breast is more orange, and the border between the white belly and brown breast is not sharp. Breeds in the high arctic and winters in the South Pacific; it is an uncommon fall migrant to the Hawaiian islands.
