Identification

POWERED BY MERLIN

Very large reddish-brown owl with strongly barred underparts. Found across northern tropical Australia. Roosts in large trees along creeks, in dense forest, and also in large isolated trees in urban areas. Call is a low, slow double hoot, much lower and slower than Southern Boobook or Barking Owl.
