Identification

POWERED BY MERLIN

A small batis with typical black, white, and gray markings. Note the chest band, which is black in males and rufous in females. Found in dry savanna, often in pairs, sometimes joining mixed flocks. Similar to Gray-headed Batis, but Pygmy Batis is smaller, with a different song, and the white eyebrow doesn’t extend behind the eye. The song is a series of high-pitched whistles.
