Almost always in pine trees foraging for insects. In the spring and summer, frequently sings its loud musical trill. Males can be very bright yellow, while immature females are very dull brown; always shows two white wingbars. Bill is rather thick for a warbler. Occasionally visits suet feeders in winter. Winters in southeastern U.S.
