Identification

Tiny, chunky, sprightly warbler with yellow rump, short tail, and big head. Strong head pattern: three bright yellow stripes on an olive green head. Very active while feeding, often hovering to pick insects from leaves. Found in coniferous and mixed forest above 1,500 m (5,000 ft); vagrants most often in trees on coastal headlands.
