Identification

Extremely similar to Collared Trogon; look for orange, not red, belly. Male is green above, female brown. Otherwise, a typical trogon with upright posture, squared-off tail, and stout yellow bill. Found in cloud forests, usually singly but also in pairs. Sits still at middle levels in trees, slowly turning head searching for prey. Previously considered the same species as Collared Trogon.
