Identification

POWERED BY MERLIN

Handsome spinetail found in arid areas of western Ecuador and northwestern Peru. It has chestnut wings and tail, a white eyebrow, and white underparts crossed by a necklace of thin streaks. In the Marañon drainage of northern Peru, the necklace is composed of dark spots rather than streaks. Pairs stay fairly low in deciduous forest and scrub, and give a variety of chatters and squeaks.
