A distinctive pied thrush. Black above with two white wingbars. Underside, chest, and throat white, finely and faintly scaled. Face is mottled black-and-white with a small white ear spot and eye-ring. Seemingly uncommon in dense montane forest above 500 meters of elevation. Voice unknown, but probably similar to voices of close relatives, which give high-pitched “tsss” calls.
