Identification
Strange short-tailed babbler with a long decurved bill. Currently only known from the far northern tip of Myanmar, and potentially adjacent border regions of southwestern China. Forages close to or on the ground in the dense undergrowth of broadleaf evergreen forests, particularly in foothill regions. Difficult to see well; note its song, a series of quick rising whistles. If seen, note its round dark brown body, stumpy and long-billed profile, and white throat and breast.
