Huge shorebird with incredibly long, downturned bill used to probe into mud and snag invertebrates. Buffy overall with brighter cinnamon wings. Found on beaches and open fields, solo or in flocks. Exceptional bill length and shape rules out other large shorebirds (Marbled Godwit, Willet and Whimbrel). Lacks dark stripes on head prominent on Whimbrel.
