Scraggly-looking babbler found only in forested limestone hills. Gray-brown overall with a streaked throat and pale brow. Populations in northern Thailand have a distinct color morph with variable amounts of white on the face and throat. Forages close to the ground, often in and around rocky cracks and crevices. Song is a noisy and rather hoarse-sounding series of ringing repetitive notes.
