Identification

POWERED BY MERLIN

Imperiled thrush formerly found throughout New Caledonia, but now seemingly restricted to several small islands northwest of Grand Terre, including Néba and Yandé. Brown overall, with a variable amount of warmer reddish tones on the belly, as well as a yellow bill and eyering. Inhabits wooded habitats, apparently now limited to dense coastal native forest, including where they interface with mangroves. Vocalizations include a typically thrush-like song as well as various chup calls and harsher chatters.
