Identification

POWERED BY MERLIN

Large bulbul with a brown crest, gray face, white throat, greenish-brown back, and dirty-yellow breast and belly. Crest is short and weak, unlike the wispy, erect crest of Puff-throated and Chestnut-vented bulbuls. Brown cap and duller underparts separates this species from Yellow-bellied Bulbul. Inhabits primary and secondary hill forests and forest edges, as well as overgrown plantations and gardens. Song is cheery and repetitive: “chee-chewchew, chee-chewchew”.
