Black stripes on head separate them from similar drab, olive species. Call notes almost too high-pitched to hear, ring from tops of spruces during the breeding season. At other times of the year, these tiny songbirds join mixed flocks. Smaller in size and shorter, thinner billed than warblers. Very active as it forages for insects; almost constantly moving.
