Identification
POWERED BY MERLIN
Fairly large and conspicuous flycatcher of Andean cloud forest from 1500-2500m. Olive above and yellowish below with faint streaking on breast. Obvious head pattern with dark and white stripes. Also note rufous tones in wing. Sexes alike. Could be confused with Great Kiskadee or Streaked Flycatcher, but typically found at higher elevations, and also note details of head pattern and olive-green back. Look for singles or pairs in clearings or at forest edge, where they boldly announce their presence with a loud squeaky-toy call.
