Large, stocky gull found in coastal areas, including towns and cities. Generally pale; adults have frosty gray wingtips that are only slightly darker than back color. Juveniles are rather uniform brown with wingtips that are about the same color as the body. Frequently hybridizes with Western Gull and Herring Gull in the Pacific Northwest; pure birds can be difficult to find and identify with certainty in this area.
